Overview
This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia.
They support children’s wellbeing, and development in the context of an approved learning framework.
Educators use a range of well-developed skills and knowledge using discretion and judgment when carrying out their work in the context of established policies and procedures.
They may work independently or under the guidance of others, though in some contexts that guidance may not be on-site.
Entry Requirements
The qualification guidelines state that there are no formal pre-requisites or entry requirements for this qualification; however, EduNex Training requires that students:
- are over 18 years’ of age
- have completed Year 11 or equivalent.
- evidence of holding any of the following English language test scores within the last 3 years.

be able to provide the following evidence of English Language competence:
- that they were educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country.
- that they have successfully completed their Year 11 or equivalent in English Language
OR
- Certificate IV or higher completed in Australia
Additional Requirements:
- have the required level of Language, Learning and Numeracy skills required by the course by
- completing a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment conducted by an EduNex Training at the time of orientation to identify the support required by the students. This support will enable students to complete qualification in the required time.
- The LLN test also assists EduNex Training to assess whether or not students’ LLN skills are at a level suited to the course requirements. It also assists our trainers to prepare individual learning plans for each successful applicant where skill weaknesses are identified.
- The student must have basic computer skills to use word processing software like Microsoft Word and using internet effectively for research.
IT:
Students will be required to access the online simulated workplace. Ensure devices meet the following IT requirements:
- Latest version of Chrome or Safari
- Microsoft Office (2010 or higher)

Condition of Entry:
- For international students: it is a condition of entry that upon acceptance, students provide evidence of having an Australian Student Visa (subclass 500). Students are advised to refer to the following government website for information about applying: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/500-
Work placement:
Students must complete 180 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia.
For practical placement purposes, this vocational sector requires.
- Working with Children Check
- National Police record check
- Child Protection Training Certificate
Please note that the above mentioned are the minimal requirement services request, however individual services may request additional requirements. This will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
Note: If a student has a Disclosable Court Outcome registered against their name, we are unable to assist with placement as an industry will not accept students without a clear record. This requirement is not negotiable.

The successful completion of this qualification may enable students to work as:

- Playgroup Supervisor
- Outside school hours care and vacation care workers

Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning
Applicants can apply for credit transfer of units that they have already been issued with from another RTO͘, Additionally, they may wish to apply for recognition of prior learning gained from their past formal and informal learning pathway from other training, work or life experience.

This qualification consists of 17 units in total, consisting of 15 core units and 2 elective units.
