This unit focuses on the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with First Aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. These skills will apply to persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
This unit of competency may contribute towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011).
Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities

This First Aid unit is included in many training packages and the resulting statement of attainment can be used as a credit for a variety of qualifications. Students may wish to complete other First Aid courses such as:
Students will be sent pre-reading materials upon enrollment and at least 1 week before the class. It anticipated that this would involve approximately 10-12 hours of reading time.
Then, they will participate in another 7.5 hours of formal learning and assessment activities. The class will be from 9 am to 5 pm with 30 minutes of break time.
If students are enrolled in only the CPR component, they will participate in the initial 4 hours of formal learning and assessment activities.
In the instance that students require more training or time to be assessed, additional time in class will be offered (up to 2 hours), by the Trainer/Assessor who will continue to deliver and assess theory and practical skills until competency is achieved by the student.
There are no pre-requisites for this course. however, EduNex Training requires that students meet the following criteria:

This course is delivered over 7.5 hours – 1 Day Trainer Led, Face to Face Classroom Based Training with 10-12 hours of pre-reading required before attending class.
For CPR: 4 hours of face-to-face training in the classroom (trainer led) and 7.5 hours of pre-reading required before attending the class.
