Assessment Methods

Please refer to the BSB50120 Delivery and Assessment Schedule for assessment methods for each Unit of Competency.

Definitions of each of these methods has been drawn from the ASQA Guide for developing assessment Tools (page 5),

  • Direct observation – this can sometimes happen using simulated environments in the classroom, or where interaction with students is required, this will occur in the workplace at a site visit.
  • Product based methods – these are generally reports, displays, case studies and presentations.
  • Questioning – written questioning is used for a number of assessment tasks. This can be done verbally as a reasonable adjustment for students with disabilities impacting their ability to complete written tasks.

Where evidence is gathered over a number of assessments, successful completion of the unit of competency will only be judged after successfully completing each individual assessment.

Each unit is assessed individually as a clustered approach has not been taken.
